USA Field hockey announced a national event "Protecting and Preserving College Field Hockey - The Stanford Situation" featuring our fight, lessons learned, and call to action. Support for reinstating Stanford Field Hockey and growing the game on the west coast will be echoed by remarks from the California State Chapter and USA Field Hockey leadership. We are grateful for the support and platform from USA Field Hockey.
Field Hockey is more than a sport. It’s a family.
By now, you may know that Stanford University announced plans to cut Varsity Field Hockey and 10 other nationally ranked, Olympian-producing teams without any notice or effort to find solutions. Obviously, this decision upended the lives of current players and recruits - imagine if you were in their shoes – but this decision also directly threatens all west coast field hockey. This decision has the potential to impact high school, collegiate, and club programs, weakening the entire national network, so we are fighting for all of us. Nearly 400 alumnae have mobilized to fight the decision. We have targeted key university decision makers, launched a fundraising campaign to show our capacity for endowing the program, and sustained public pressure with the help of hockey allies like you. We are asking for your help with a few clicks below:
By pledging your support, you will help us reach our endowment goal. No amount is too small.
By sending an email to Stanford officials, you will sustain the pressure on Stanford to reverse its decision.
By joining our social media channels, you will amplify our message to reinstate field hockey. Post. Share. Like.
Now more than ever, we need to stick together.
