Mini Cal Cup on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2020

Letter from Tom Harris:

The Field Hockey Federation’s annual event was a grand success. The site, the fabulous Hummingbird Ranch was perfect for the event.

  • Marc Bakerman, the event Organizer did a great job in arranging the fields and the equipment. He also prepared and served a very tasty barbecued lunch.

  • Tommy Hoang, the Hummingbird Ranch site manager did a wonderful job in arranging the games and the lunch site. It is a beautiful venue for a variety of exceptional events.

  • Shawn Hindy and Chris Januszewski umpired the games and assigned the teams and fields.

  • Everyone who participated added much to the spirit of the event that defines Cal Cup.

It was a miracle that Marc could place the spark that ignited a great day of hockey. But the hockey family has grown dependent upon his ability, focus and enthusiasm for the sport.

It was California Cup 49 and I was able to maintain my record of playing in every one.

Thank you, Marc and the volunteers who overcame the challenges of the Coronavirus to continue our annual event without Interruption since 1972.

Letter from Marc Bakerman:

It meant the World to me, to make sure Tom Harris (Cal Cup Founder) was able to play in his 49th consecutive Cal Cup!  We are grateful to the Hoang Family for allowing us to use their beautiful property.  We can't wait to see everybody Memorial Day Weekend May 28-31, 2021, for our Golden Anniversary 50th Edition of the Cal Cup.

Permits are $2 and can be purchased at the yellow payment kiosk (credit/debit card accepted) in the north end of the parking lot adjacent the pitch. The campus police will ticket cars that do not have a valid permit.

Edel ID Turf Rules:  FHF Members, as a reminder, our hockey field is new and very valuable to all teams and players that participate in the league, from U8's to US National Team members.  The Edel ID turf complies with FIH tournament requirements (meaning we can host and support international hockey tournaments at our field) and was very expensive; please follow these rules to keep our new turf field in good condition:

  • No food or beverages allowed on the field, except water

  • No smoking, glass containers, or gum allowed on the field

  • No dogs are allowed on the field

  • No cleats, high heels, or metal studs/blades are allowed on the field

Thank you for your assistance preserving the hockey turf - we hope to have another decade to enjoy our field hockey pitch at Moorpark College!
